A varied week in the last 7 days, a mix of work, work and work at home plus poorly little ones.

The weekend started with fun things like icing the Christmas cake, the cake made by a friend has been in the cupboard for a month or so just waiting to be finished.

Lici and Ted really enjoyed this and getting the cake finished. There was also some cookie making to be done and who doesn’t love licking out the bowl.

Kirsti was busy doing some plumbing and electrical work in the kitchen island, just enough space to get inside and get some pipes in for a dishwasher to be installed and some additional plugs, Ted found it very funny with Mummy stuck in the island.

It is funny to think when we first had the property we washed plates, knives etc in a bowl after boiling water on a camping stove…how we have moved on to a kitchen island.

Lici has had a cold and cough for what seems months and had to have a few days off school, plus a visit to the doctors (a call at 9 and an appointment at 10.30, with our lovely local doctor), medicine and off we go – Lici went back to school on Friday and was so pleased to see her friends and have a trip to the library.

In the meantime they did have an intrepid explore with Mum to blow off the cobwebs in the secret stream.

I (Phil) was busy off filming in the Dordogne, a great project with a couple from England who started a micro-brewery, with a bar and restaurant – a great story to tell – along with a fascinating interview with Tom form French Plans on planning in France – this will be a must watch when it is out soon.

What would normally be a stunning drive was slightly blighted by thick fog for most of the 3 hour journey both ways – but still an easy drive, as driving is in France, bar the odd mad driver.

As it is winter the chickens and the geese get to roam all of the garden, it is good for the grass – but this year they have taken to heading to the back door and knocking on the doors and making a mess everywhere – that’s a job for next year some additional fencing near the house. Ted has enjoyed saying hello to the geese through the safety of the glass.

This weekend we will be getting the Christmas decorations up – see you next week
