The big difference between UK and France is most agents in France are self-employed. Commission only self-employed estate agents. And that's a very, very different to being on a fixed salary every month.
So that that's good in many ways because if they're not working with you properly, then they're not earning commission. So, it's in their interest to have a great rapport with you from day one.
Most agents are affiliated with a brand, I personally affiliate with Beaux Village Immobilier, based across southwest France, but they’ll all have their own affiliation. But they are self-employed. They choose their hours; they’ll choose what they work and where they work from. A lot of them will be home-based so don’t be scared about that if they haven't got an office, because a lot of the big, branded agencies don’t have branches in France, so don't let that alarm you. It's very, very common.
But I think, you know, their interest being self-employed is to do a fantastic job for you. Otherwise, as a self-employed agent, you're not going to get what you want from the clients and what they want from you if you're not working as a very strong, self-employed, committed agent.
