We love the big skies here in France and through the year we are treated to some wonderful sunrises and sunsets, just like this sunrise earlier in the week.
The weather this week has been unusually warm, with the temperature in the early 20s. It has meant the children have had lots of time outside running around after the chickens, or running away from the geese. The geese should hopefully return to laying soon, you can’t beat a goose egg for breakfast!

When we first purchased our house one of the key priorities was getting a toilet and a shower installed, this was a short-term need. Now the work is beginning on getting our ensuite bathroom done. Kirsti has been working her magic and soon I can show the new shower installed with the wood theme – no chainsaws this week, but sawing still the same to get the new wooden unit completed for the sink and soon the shower.

There is a wood feel to the new ensuite, using wood from the local area including from the forest.
Kirsti is a bit of a whizz with the plumbing and we have been selecting the vinyl for the bathroom from the local Brico (DIY shop).

With winter round the corner it is time to harvest a few things from the veg plot, not a great year this year with so much going on, but still got some chutneys made – the kids enjoyed the cabbages as you can see!!
There is something special about growing and picking your own vegetables, the children absolutely love the cherry tomatoes.

Business life is busy with changing over one of the businesses to a different status, along with Le Hibou Chic seeing a new addition with an information hub being put in for people coming to the area and wanting to find out more about moving to the area.
Kirsti has begun organising something special for later in 2026 and I have been filming and enjoying a lovely bacon and egg roll at a lovely café in Confolens, which was very welcome.
Hopefully this weekend we will be very close to finishing the bathroom, but the tiling will take a bit of time.
